@Ben. Part of my interest in the topic grew out of working at L'Abri. It is a place of transition and people would come asking important questions in the midst of all sorts of life situations. Many of them were grappling with deconversion and unsure of how their crisis of faith would play out. It kept me reading about the topic. So, the short answer is to what drove my interest in the topic is: people.
